2014 SPORTSMAN RULES
Any visiting cars that don't comply with NFS track rules
Will be required to add weight.

RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion does not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

1. BODY:
Any factory stock American made 1971 thru 1995 chassis.
Driver's compartment can be steel or aluminum.
Aftermarket or hand made bodies OK. NO oversized sail panels.
Fabricated roof, steel, fiberglass or aluminum OK.
NO roof spoilers, NO nose, NO deck or NO sail panel spoilers.
NO carbon fiber parts.
Maximum 72 inches wide at back of car. Middle of car not to flair out then back in at rear of car.
Maximum 39 inches high at base of spoiler.
Back quarter panel 48 inches from centerline of rear axle.
Closed in driver's compartment OK.
Trunk and engine compartment must be completely sealed from driver's compartment.
NO sharp edges on body or bumpers.
NO hood scoops, hood may have hole cut above breather ½ inch larger than top of air filter housing.
Spoiler dimensions, 8 inch high including all bends, by 72 inches wide, sides or ends of spoiler maximum 8 inches high.
NO center driver's seat, driver must sit in stock location.
Rear Bumper- NO sharp edges, ends must be capped or elbowed.

2. Minimum wheel base 101 inches.

3. FRONT SUSPENSION:
Tubular upper control arms OK. Must be steel.
Must have stock clip to 4 inches beyond stock lower control arm mounts, NO full tube chassis.
Racing springs and shocks OK, Aluminum shocks ok, NO adjustable shocks, rebuildable or split valve shocks OK.
Wedge bolts OK.
Any steel spindle, wide 5 hubs ok
Any stock type rotor or caliper. Caliper may be aluminum.
Any stock lower control arm, must be steel, tubular lowers ok.
NO rack and pinion steering.
NO chassis adjustments from driver's cockpit.

4. REAR SUSPENSION: Wide 5 OK
Stock coil spring chassis, 3 link or 4 link, or leaf spring OK, Aluminum or steel birdcages OK.
Racing springs and shocks OK, aluminum or steel shocks OK. NO adjustable shocks. Split valve or rebuildable shocks ok.
Relocating of trailing arms OK.
May use stock trailing arms, or swedge tubes and heim joints, maximum length of trailing arms 29 inches bolt hole to bolt hole.
May run any type top bar.
May run any length top bar.
May run J-Bar and type.
May run 90/10 shock on top of rear end.

5. REAR END:
Interchanging of rear ends OK, changing of gears OK, mini spool or full spool OK, floater OK, quick change OK can be steel or aluminum tube, Aluminum birdcages ok.

6. ENGINE:
IF IT'S NOT IN THE RULES SET FORTH BELOW IT IS NOT ALLOWED AND WILL RESULT IN A DQ!!!!!
Maximum set back to #1 spark plug even with center of driver's side ball joint, if chassis has wedge bolt it must line up with wedge bolt.
NO porting, polishing or gasket matching.
Any flat tappet hydraulic or solid lift cam.
Cam button or thrust bearing on top cam gear OK.
Must be steel head only, NO aluminum heads.
Maximum valve size 194/150.
NO 2.02 valves.
May run Chevy Camel humps with 194/150.
May run World products head 194/150 valves only.
May run RHS head 194/150 valves only.
May run Vortec heads 194/150 valves only (factory stock) Add 50lbs in front of harmonic balancer, 2750 total weight of car.
Any other GM OEM head, 194/150 valves only.
Milling of heads OK.
There is no c.c. rule on heads.
NO angle milling of heads.
Pinning of rocker studs OK.
Screw in studs OK, 3/8 or 7/16 OK.
Roller rockers OK 1.5 ratio only, NO 1.52, 1.6 or any other ratio, as it will result in a DQ.
Guide plates OK.
Stud girdles OK.
Multi angle valve job OK.
Valve springs maximum diameter 1.500, BEE HIVE springs OK.
Poly locks OK.
Must run mufflers.
GM, Ford, Mopar maximum over bore 0.60. Max. CUBIC INCH 360.
NO clevelands or 400 GM blocks.
Crankshaft minimum weight 48lbs, 3.48 stroke, may be cast or steel, NO knife edge cranks.
Crankshaft may be balanced, no grinding of crank counter weights, may add heavy metal to balance.
NO stroking or destroking of motor.
May run 2 or 4 bolt block.
May run 1 or 2 piece rear main seal block.
Balancing and blueprinting OK.
Pistons any stock appearing flat top piston, forged or cast.
Connecting rods, any sportmans 5.7 rod I-beam only, floating pin OK, NO ALUMINUM OR H BEAMS.
At no point can piston protrude above block deck surface.
Block may be zero decked.
Double roller timing chain and gears OK, NO gear or belt drives.
May run crate motor part # 88958602 sealed from GM unaltered, seals must be untouched.

7. INTAKES:
Stock OEM, or any after market untouched from supplier, NO home made or fabricated intakes, must have legible casting numbers.

8. CARBURETOR:
IF IT'S NOT SET FORTH IN THE RULES BELOW IT IS NOT ALLOWED AND WILL RESULT IN A DQ!!!!!
3310 Holley;
May use secondary metering block.
May change jets.
May use 50cc accelerator pump.
May change power valve.
Must have original air horn (untouched).
May run fuel log.
Must be vacuum secondary, NO mechanical secondaries.
Must pass NO GO gauges.
NO billet parts.
May use an adapter/spacer, maximum 1.5 inches including gaskets.

Holley 1850 500 CFM;
May use secondary metering block.
May change jets.
May use 50cc accelerator pump.
May change power valve.
Must have original air horn (untouched).
May run fuel log.
Must be vacuum secondary, NO mechanical secondaries.
Must pass NO GO gauges.
NO billet parts.
May use an adapter/spacer, maximum 1.5 inches including gaskets.

Holley 4412 500 CFM;
May change jets.
May use 50cc accelerator pump.
May change power valve.
Must have original air horn (untouched).
Must pass NO GO gauges.
NO billet parts.
May use 1.5
May use an adapter/spacer, maximum 1.5 inches including gaskets.

Q-JET;
Any Q-jet.
May change jets.
Side load or front load.
May remove choke plate and shaft.
NO drilling internally to modify fuel circuts.
May use and adapter/spacer, maximum 1.5 inches including gaskets.
IN THE ABOVE RULES THESE ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS ANYTHING ELSE WILL RESULT IN A DQ!!!

9. IGNITION:
May use any stock type distributor.
May use MSD distributor.
May use MSD box.
NO magnetos.
NO crank triggers.
NO traction control.
MSD box subject to being sent in to be tested for traction control. NFS will loan you a MSD box till yours is verified and sent back, if it has traction control you will be charged the cost of testing and cost of NFSs MSD box.

10. CLUTCH, PRESSURE PLATE AND FLYWHEEL:
Any OEM stock or triple disc.
Blow proof bellhousing MANDATORY.

11. BRAKES:
Any steel piston caliper.
Any steel rotor.
After market pedal assembly OK.
Brake bias OK.
Must have 4 wheel operating brakes.
May run RF shut off

12. RADIATOR:
Any radiator in front of engine ONLY.

13. TRASMISSION:
May run stock OEM type transmission.
May remove 1st gear from 3 speed.
May remove 1st and 2nd from 4 speed.
May run Bert, Brinn or Falcon.
Aluminum drive shaft ok.

14. WHEELS AND TIRES:
Any steel or aluminum wheel.
Maximum diameter 12 inches.
Hoosier D21's, must punch minimum 48 hardness on durometer.

15. FUEL CELL:
MANDATORY.
Must have minimum 2, 2 inch steel straps mounted to rear frame.

16. WEIGHT:
Sportsman motor 2700lbs after race with driver.
Crate motor 2700lbs with 50lbs of the 2700 being in front of motor plate after race with driver.
Vortec motor must weigh 2750 after race with driver. 50lbs must be in front of harmonic balancer.

ALL CARS MUST MEET AND PASS NFS SAFETY REGULATIONS.
MODIFICATIONS TO WHEEL BEARING OK.
