2011 BOX STOCK/HORNET RULES

This class is designed to provide entry level stock car racing for drivers with minimal experience.

SAFETY:
1. Minimum 4 point cage welded in, if bolted to floor pan it must have a 4 inch square 1/8 plates
Sandwiching gauge to floor pan, minimum 4, 3/8 bolts per point. Any other types of roll cages must
Be approved by NFS tech department. Continuous welds must be used on all joints.

2. Minimum 5 point racing harness, must be no more than 3 yrs old.

3. Racing seat preferred but not mandatory at this time.

4. Must have battery disconnect with in drivers reach and safety crew.

5. MANDATORY: fire suit, racing shoes, neck brace, racing gloves, helmet Snell approved, with face shield, window net.

6. Battery may be relocated inside car, if relocated it must be in a battery hold down and covered.

7. Windshield must be removed and wire mesh or 4 metal bars in place in front of driver.

8. Approved fire extinguisher with in reach of driver, must be in holder with release (NO ZIP TIES OR CUT TAPE).

9. Doors MUST be welded or bolted shut.

10. Gutting of drivers door only to clear door bars NO excessive gutting.

11. All flammable material must be removed from inside driver's compartment.

CAR OR TRUCK:
In the following rules these are the only OPTIONS that will be allowed, anything else must be OEM factory stock for that make model and year, including for example, if the year car your running came with a 2.3 liter engine that year and the next year or two it was produced with a 2.5 liter it will be ILLEGAL and will result in a DQ.

1. It can be rear or front wheel drive
2. NO turbos.
3. NO super charger.
4. NO rotary motors.
5. May be 4 cyl. Or 6 cyl.
6. 4 cyl. Maximum 16 valves. STOCK MEANS STOCK
7. 6 cyl. Maximum 18 valves. STOCK MEANS STOCK
8. Fuel injected cars, NO switching from throttle body to port fuel injection, must be as it came from the manufacturer.
9. Carbureted cars MUST have factory stock carburetor for that make, model and year.
10. Maximum wheel base 108 inches.
11. Engine, 3.3 liter MAXIMUM.
12. NO special order or high performance cars, NO 4 wheel steer or all wheel drive.
13. Differential, OEM stock for the make, model and year you are running, NO locked, NO limited slip, NO posi traction, IF THE CAR YOU ARE RUNNING CAME WITH ANY TYPE TRACTION CONTROL IT ME BE INSPECTED BY TECH TO SEE THAT IT IS DISSABLED.
14. Transmission, must have all working gears, must be stock for the make, model and year you are running, if you are running transaxle type front wheel drive car it must be unlocked open with 1 wheel pulling, NO ¾ locked transaxles.
15. SUSPENSION, to stay OEM stock. You may camber passenger side wheels up to 3 degrees negative; driver's side wheels are to be 0 straight up NO LEANING OF DRIVERS SIDE WHEELS AT ALL.
16. May run a spring rubber in right front spring ONLY, must be 1 wrap NO multi wrap spring rubbers.
17. NO racing fuels or additives, 87 octane only.
18. Tires; all tires same size, 70/75/78/80, NO 60 or 50 series tires. DOT tires only NO mud grip, NO snow treads, NO truck or trailer tires, NO grooving, NO sipping, NO truing or soaking of tires.
19. Rims; 13', 14', 15', STOCK offset, NO racing rims.
20. Gas tank or fuel cell; if using a stock factory gas tank it MUST be in front of rear axle, if using a fuel cell or plastic boat tank must (must be in steel case) 10 gallon maximum, it must be installed in trunk with a minimum of 2 2inch staps mounted securely to floor of trunk.
21. Remove all glass from vehicle, door panels can be removed, doors must be welded or bolted shut, hood hinges must remain in stock location, all hoods must have hood pins, may remove factory hood latch, NO gutting of hoods, all body sheet metal must be in place, trunk must have pins, may remove factory latches and hinges. Trucks must weld tail gate shut, NO sheet metal screws, pop rivets only 3/16 inch.
22. Headlights must be removed as well as any plastic lenses and bulbs, may leave third brake light.
23. May remove hood insulation, NO gutting of hood.
24. Brakes; MUST HAVE ALL 4 WHEEL WORKING BRAKES, EMERGENCY BRAKES, ALL CABLES TO EMERGENCY BRAKE ARE TO BE DISSCONNECTED, IF FOUND TO BE WORKING IT WILL RESULT IN A DQ!!!!!!!!
25. If car being used has air bags they must be removed from car.

IN THE RULES STATED ABOVE, THESE ARE THE ONLY OPTIONS ALLOWED, ANYTHING ELSE WILL RESULT IN A DQ!!!!!
